Diplomatic Relationships

Despite their geographical locations on opposite sides of the world, relations between Thailand  and Latin America keep still narrow. Thailand established diplomatic relations with Latin American countries many decades ago. In the past five years, Thailand celebrated the 50th anniversary of its relations with many countries in Latin America, just as Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Guatemala and Cuba. Nowadays Thailand maintains diplomatic relations with 32 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The policy of strengthening and expanding relations with these countries conducted by the Thai government has resulted in the trade increased and the cooperation between the two regions, especially in the cases of Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Mexico and Peru .

Thailand has five embassies in Latin America: Buenos Aires,Brasilia,Mexico City, Santiago de Chile and Lima. Meanwhile, seven Latin American countries have embassies in Thailand: Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Panama, Cuba, Peru and Chile.
